Throughout the UK there are many attractive and interesting town and village signs, Essex is no exception to this, some signs depict local history, industry or are in some way relevant to the locality, some are merely attractive while others leave something to be desired.

I would like to include photographs of all the signs located in Essex, however this is no easy task as new or renovated signs appear with varying degrees of frequency. I would appreciate any information or photographs of any signs not included thus far, please EMAIL me if you can help.

I would have liked to include information regarding the meaning depicted by the various design, there are however a number of publications that already do this, if you are interested check the 'Publications' section below.
